Rosie Rosene (Grant) Greathead, 75, of Ashland, formerly of Wellesley and Needham.
Born in Newton, MA June 15, 1931 died Sunday, December 31, 2006, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. She was the wife of John Greathead, who died in 1975.
She is survived by seven sons John Greathead of Silver Springs, MD, James Greathead and his wife Deborah of Lynn, Jerry Greathead of Chico, TX, William, Paul, and Edward Greathead of Ashland, and Thomas Greathead of  N. Walpole, NH.
She was the mother of  Alice Greathead who died in 1954.
She also leaves eight Grandchildren, Nathan, Michelle, Kristin, Matthew, Joseph, Melanie, Tiffany, and Angela Greathead. 
Funeral was January 5th and Interment was Private under the direction of John Everett & Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street Natick, MA 01760.

Obituary

Jayne A. (Maguire) Rodenbush 81 years of South Yarmouth died Saturday morning at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife for 60 years of George F. Rodenbush, Jr. She was born, and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late John and Ida (Junior) Maguire. For the past 20 years she had resided in South Yarmouth and enjoyed wintering in Naples, FL.

Mrs. Rodenbush was a 1943 graduate of Brockton High School and was also a graduate of Katherine Gibbs of Boston.

She retired as a paraprofessional for the Brockton School Department and previously was school secretary at Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton. Before her marriage she was an administrative assistant at State Street Bank & Trust.

Mrs. Rodenbush had been a member of the Yarmouth Garden Club where she taught floral arranging. She also designed and sold seasonal wreaths. She was a charter member of the former Catholic Charities Guild now the Charity Guild in Brockton.

She was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in South Yarmouth and of Our Lady of Lourdes Church when living in Brockton.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her five children Nancy J. Ambler and her husband Tracy of So. Yarmouth; George F. Rodenbush, III and his wife Jayne of Brockton; Kathleen J. Dupuy and her husband Robert of Somerset; John J. Rodenbush and his wife Elaina of Palm Harbor, FL and James F.X. Rodenbush of So. Yarmouth. Grandmother of Ryan and Brendan Pomeroy, Brett and Devon Ambler, Kerri and Patrick Rodenbush, Joshua and Meghan Dupuy, Elizabeth and Molly Rodenbush. Sister of Mary Alice Ryan of Osterville, MA

She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

LAKE WORTH, FLORIDA, formerly of Saugus – Mr. Charles R. Savage, 87 years, died on Monday December 4 at the Veteran Administration Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL.

Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Blair) Savage. Mr. Savage is a 25 year U.S. Army Retiree serving in WWII and the Korean War. In his 25 years of service with the U.S. Army he rose through the ranks and retired as a Major. Following his military retirement he worked for Raytheon as a logistics engineer. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fitchburg State in 1982. He was a member of the Saugus VFW DeFranzo Post 2346 and also the Saugus DAV.

Mr. Savage leaves one daughter, Diane Stevenson and her husband Frank of FL; four grandsons, Peter, Paul, Anthony and Robert; five great-grandchildren, Kendra, Nicholas, Andrew, Peri and Annalysse;  one daughter-in-law, Tricia Savage of Beverly.

He is predeceased by one son, Charles R. Savage, Jr. and one sister, Margaret Street.

The funeral will be held from the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS on Monday, December 11 at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Margaret’s Church, 431 Lincoln Ave., Saugus at 9 a.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Saugus.

Mr. Brian J. Conha, 33 of Fremont, New Hampshire formerly of Lynn. Died Thursday. He was the husband of Lissa (Miller) Conha. Born and raised in Lynn, he was a graduate of Lynn Vocational Technical Institute, class of 1991. He was the son of David Conha of NH and Bonny Stevens of Salem. Brian was employed as an expediter for Avnet Computer Technologies of Peabody. A devoted father and husband, Brian would pass his time riding his Honda Shadow, playing his Bass guitar, or watching “his” Celtics play. He was collector of all sports memorabilia.Besides his wife and parents he leaves two sons Tyler and Bradley Conha of NH, a sister Elizabeth Conha of FL, his in laws Clark and Linda (Brown)  Miller of Swampscott. Marylin I. (Lent) Miller a 9 year resident of Everett, former 8 year resident of Natick and former longtime resident of Charlestown, died at her home in Everett, following a short battle with cancer. She was 53 years old.

Marylin was born in Boston on June 12, 1953. She grew up in Charlestown, where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Girls High School. Marylin had been working for Partners Health Care in the finance department for the last 5 years until her recent illness.She was a Navy veteran and a member of The Red Hat Society.

Marylin is the beloved wife of Francis X. "Frank" Miller. She is the devoted mother of Mathew M. Miller of Norwood, Eric C., Brendan F., Francis X. Jr., Shannon T. and Sean P. Miller all of Everett. She is the loving nana of Samantha Rose Miller. She is the beloved daughter of the late George E. and Anna A. (Lennox) Lent. She is the beloved sister of Thomas Lent and wife Debra of Charlestown, Sharon Stover and husband Loyal, Charles Lent and wife Mary Jean, George Lent and wife Kathleen all of Everett, Stephanie Lent of Methuen and Michelle Beadle and husband Howard of Winthrop. She is the loving aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Susan J. Hurley, age 43, of Boxboro, died Tuesday in the Coes Pond Hospice, Worcester. Susan originally battled cancer six years ago and has faced her recent diagnoses early November with great courage and stoicism.

Born October 4, 1963 the daughter of the former First Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Joseph J. Hurley, Esquire of Carmel Terrace, Framingham and the late Jean F. (Welch) Hurley, she was raised and educated in Framingham. Sue was graduated from Marian High School, Framingham in the Class of 1981 and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Framingham State College in 1986.

During the 1980’s she was employed by Sears and Roebuck in Natick. A kind, giving and caring person, she had been employed by the Town of Wayland from 1992 to 2006 as a Teacher’s Assistant as well as a tutor to special needs children. Sue had held positions in the BASE after school program; in Pegasus, the summer program and was a Special Education Teacher Assistant for several individual students and groups of students. She had developed an expertise in certain computer software programs which facilitated student's learning. She was a keen observer of children's learning and her input and recommendations were invaluable to the special education staff in their lesson planning and implementation. But, most of all, beyond her official capacities, she was an integral part of the fabric of the school community. Sue was always eager to help out wherever and whenever she saw the need. Whether it was planning a party, or covering a recess duty or just being there as a listener and friend to staff members in need, Sue was a tangible presence in the Wayland School Community.

An avid gardener, she enjoyed her part time work with the former Arrowhead Garden Center which is now operated as Mahoney’s Garden Center in Wayland and had also been a counselor the Meadowbrook Summer Camp in Weston, Ma.

Sue also enjoyed reading, being a frugal shopper and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her father, she is survived by five siblings and her 4 nieces and 2 nephews, Elisabeth J. “Lisa”(Premise Rep-Peabody) and her husband Robert Gravel and their daughter Meaghan Reckis of Salem, David J. and John J. Hurley both of Framingham, Mary V. and her husband Raymond Gosselin and their children Carl and Megan of Vineyard Haven and Margaret J. Hurley Esquire and her two children Michael Joseph Stygles and Mary Elisabeth Stygles of Grafton.

Predeceased by a brother Robert J. Hurley, she is also survived by his daughter, Sarah K. Hurley of Natick.

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:15 A.M. from the Duckett-J.S. Waterman Home of Memorial Tributes, 656 Boston Rd. (Rte 20), Sudbury, Ma. to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Anselm Church, 100 Landham Rd. Sudbury. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Harold L. Craven, age 94, of Lynn, died Sunday November 19, 2006 after a brief illness. He is the husband of the late Eleanor M. (Mahan) Craven. Born in Winthrop, he is the son of the late Harold L. and Dorothy (Cameron) Craven. He has lived in Lynn for the greater part of his life.
Mr. Craven retired from the Lynn Fire Department on June 30, 1977 as a District Chief in 1977 after 35 years of dedicated service. He entered the service after joining the Fire Department and served in the US Army during World War II. As part of his World War II experience, he stood as a victor at Eagles Nest in Berlin, Germany in the place where Hitler once stood.
He became a Firefighter on April 5, 1943 and was made a Lieutenant on May 23, 1953. He achieved the rank of Captain on January 6, 1962 and became a District Chief on February 7, 1977. During his years of service to the Lynn Fire Department, he was involved with fighting many fires in Lynn, including the fires at both St. Mary’s Church in Lynn and later St. Mary’s Chapel in 1956; the fire at the tannery on Boston St. in 1956, and the Market Street fire in 1959. Mr. Craven served on Ladder 2, Lynn’s First Arial Platform, or Bucket Ladder.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world and Mr. Craven loved to watch various cooking shows on television. He was very proud that his family spanned 5 generations.
He is survived by 6 children; Harold B. Craven of Lynn, Eleanor M. Patten (YP Production) and her husband William of Bradford, Joan V. Bacon of Pensacola, FL, Richard C. Craven and his wife Maryjane of Pensacola, FL, Bryan D. Craven and his wife Patricia of Middleton and Ann Thornell and her husband Frank of Lynn; 1 brother; Howard Craven of Florida; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is the father of the late Rev. Francis L. Craven and brother of the late Norman Craven, Peggy Parsons, Ruth Putnam and Dorothy Gilmore.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 AM from the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rt 129) Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Lynn at 11 AM.  Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. SALEM - Christine (Courtney) Hill, age 53, wife of Lorenza E. “Lonnie” Hill, I, of Salem, formerly of Dorchester, died Sunday evening October 22, 2006 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, following a long illness.

Born and raised in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Barbara (Ford) Courtney.

Prior to her retirement, Christine was employed by Verizon (CSD)  for 22 years, starting in Boston, then to Lynn and then in Middleton at the time of her retirement.

A resident of Salem since 1980, she was a member of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Salem.

Besides her husband Lonnie, with whom she shared 23 years of marriage, she is survived by 2 sons, Lorenza "Lonnie” Hill, II and Spensah Hill, both of Salem, 2
daughters, Amy Courtney of Louisville, KY, Kristin Estes of Salem, 2 grandchildren, Nathan Estes and Kobe Estes, both of Salem, 4 brothers, John J. Courtney Jr.
of Londonderry, NH, Michael F. Courtney of Chelsea, Brian K. Courtney of W. Roxbury, James B. Courtney of Whitman, 4 sisters, Barbara A. Crawford of Quincy,
Mary A. Stewart of Braintree, Catherine Courtney of Raynham, Patricia A. Courtney of Norwood, and several aunts, uncles, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Linda D. Courtney and Joseph M. Courtney.

Mr. Rhèal P. “Ralph” Bourque, age 57, of Lynn, died suddenly on Monday at his home, where he was stricken. He was the son of William and Lorette (Bourgeois) Bourque of Lynn.

Born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, he came to Lynn at the age of 8 and remained here for all of his life. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1968.

“Ralph” had worked as the property Manager for S&K Properties, of Lynn and also had worked as the Bar Manager at Hogans II, Franklin Street, Lynn, for over 20 years.

He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed living life to its fullest.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his longtime companion, Michele O’Connell, of Lynn, 2 daughters; Shannon and Dave Harris, of North Reading, and Kerri O’Connell, of Lynn, a granddaughter, Alexa Grace Harris, of N. Reading, 2 brothers, Louis Bourque, and his wife Donna, of Lynn, Leo Bourque, and his wife Lisa, of Lynn, 4 sisters, Joanne Bourque Gallagher and her husband Jack, of Lynn, Lucy Massa (CSD), and her husband Bill, of Topsfield, Jackie Heuston, and her husband Ed, of Middleton, and Janice Flynn (CSD), and her husband Jim, of Peabody, 1 nephew, Jeffrey Bourque, 4 nieces, Melissa Sousa, Lauren Flynn, Ashley Flynn, Christine Heuston, and 3 grand nieces and nephews.

His Funeral will be held on Friday at 8am from the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home 426 Broadway (Rte. 129) Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9am in Sacred Heart Church, Lynn. Cremation will be in Harmony Grove Crematory. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited, visiting hours Thursday 4-8PM. Mrs. Dorothy M. Tirabassi 93, of Lynn died on Friday in a local nursing home following a brief illness. She was wife of the late Americo Tirabassi.

 Born in Lynn, daughter of the late Nehemiah and Lydia (Russell) Hicks, she is a member of the last graduating class of the “old” Lynn English High School, class of 1931. She also studied art at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston.

 Mrs. Tirabassi was employed as a housekeeper in a Doctor’s residence for over 40 years. A lifelong resident of Lynn, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, reading and various construction projects. She enjoyed spending time with her family at Sunset Lake in NH. and was an avid reader. It would be an understatement to call her just a “fan” of the Red Sox. She loved her theatre, musicals in particular. In her younger days she  made going to the movies or drive-in a weekly activity. In earlier years she was a participant in many activities at the former Maple Street United Methodist Church.  

 Mrs. Tirabassi was a generous benefactor of many charitable organizations.

 She leaves 2 sons, Stephen Tirabassi of Lynn, Peter Tirabassi of Allenstown NH. and his wife Nancy, a daughter Sally Ann (Tirabassi) (Donovan) Herlihy of Hampstead NH and her husband Leo, a brother Fred Hicks of Danvers, 2 sisters, Evelyn Garrett and Florence Bianchi both of Lynn.   Grandmother of Keith Tirabassi, Rachel Whynott, Paige and Alison Herlihy. Great Grandmother of 5 great grandchildren, aunt of several nieces and nephews.

 Sister of the late William, Edward, Allen, Phillip, Robert and Annie Hicks.

Howard A. York, age 59, of Lawrence, MA and formerly of Marblehead, MA, passed away in his home on Wednesday, October 11, 2006.

Howie was born in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up in Queens, NY and attended Holy Cross High School and CW Post College. He and his family moved to Marblehead, MA in 1985.

He began his career with New York Telephone Company in 1966, starting out as a repairman and then moving into the software side of the business. He retired from the Telephone Company in 1995 and became a VP at Dataware Technologies/Ledge Multimedia in Cambridge, MA. At the time of his death, he was an executive at MatrixOne in Westford, MA, responsible for worldwide services operations.

In 1968, Howie entered the United States Army. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970.

Howie loved to cook and spent his free time fishing with his childhood friend, John Lopez, and sailing with his dear friend, Bill McGrail.

He was separated from his wife, Dorothea York, of Marblehead, MA, and is survived by his loving friend and soul mate, Debbie Plumadore, of Lawrence, MA; his four children, Jennifer (Tony) Granata of Marblehead, MA, Christopher (Melissa) York of Amesbury, MA, Kimberly York (Mike McLaughlin) of Marblehead, MA, and Jacqueline (Chris) Easterbrooks of Marblehead, MA; his two sisters, Karilyn (Jamie) Shepherd of Woodstock, VA, and Kathy (Peter) Venute of College Point, NY; and his six grandchildren – CJ, Ashley and Emily York of Amesbury, MA; and Jake, Mia, and Nick Granata of Marblehead, MA.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 10 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead, MA followed by interment in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Marblehead. Visiting hours will be held at the Eustis-Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, for two days, Saturday from 4-7 PM, and on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

Lawrence E. “Fella” Fenton Jr., age 55, of Lynn, died Wednesday, October 4th in his home, after being stricken suddenly. He was the son of Dorothy (Jackson) Fenton and the late Lawrence E. Fenton Sr. Born and raised in Lynn, he has lived in Lynn all his life. Educated in Lynn schools, he was active playing hockey and baseball in high school. Mr. Fenton was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf at Gannon Golf Course in Lynn. He formerly worked at General Electric.
Besides his mother Dorothy, his is survived by his three brothers, Robert L. Fenton & his wife Mary of Peabody, Timothy G. Fenton of Lynn & Martin A. Fenton of Duxbury; his four sisters, Kathleen C. Rumson & her husband Richard of Port St. Lucie, FL, Arlene F. Cahill of Lynn, Marjorie J. Meaney & her husband John of Lynn and Mary L. McAleer & her husband Arthur of Hudson, NH. . He also leaves many nieces & nephews.

Sullivan, Thomas M., 78 of Yarmouth Port, died Friday August 25 at the Boston University Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (Kelly) Sullivan.

Born, raised and educated in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Sullivan received an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Northeastern University in Boston.

Mr. Sullivan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class in 1952.

For over 35 years, Mr. Sullivan worked for the New England Telephone Co. in Braintree as a sales representative of the yellow pages. He retired in 1983.

Mr. Sullivan was a 30 year resident of Randolph before moving to Yarmouth Port in 1986. For the past 21 years, he has been a part-time resident of Fort Myers, FL.

An avid golfer, Mr. Sullivan was a member of several area golf courses in the Randolph, Cape Cod and Fort Myers. He also enjoyed swimming.

Mr. Sullivan is survived by two daughters, Teresa Colleran of Naples, FL and Maura Mahoney of Estero, FL; two sons, Brian Sullivan of Leominster and Daniel Sullivan of Brunswick, ME; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday August 29 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Pius Tenth Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth.

Interment followed in Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouth Port.

Visiting hours were from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday August 28, in the funeral home.

Nicholas James Mamos, age 84 of Lynn, died Wednesday, September 20th in Union Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Delma (Kefalas) Mamos, and the son of the late James & Sophia (Likas) Mamos. Born and raised in Lynn, he has lived in Lynn all his life. A graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1940, he worked as a hand stitcher for O’Donnell Shoe Company in Lynn until his retirement at the age of 55. Later he owned the Walter Dyer Leather Boutique in Essex. Mr. Mamos had also worked in the real estate industry in the Lynn area.
Mr. Mamos was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Lynn and attended the adult day program at Briarcliff Lodge. He was a great sports enthusiast, especially when it came to the Red Sox.
Besides his wife Delma of 56 years, he is survived by his children, Linda Mamos of Lynn, Deborah Mamos of Weston and twins Diane Gianocostas & her husband Skip of Georgetown & James Mamos & his wife Denise of Lynn; his three grandchildren Nicholas, James & Samantha Mamos; and a brother George Mamos of Lynn. He was the brother of the late Arthur Mamos and grandfather of the late Jennifer Gianocostas.

PEABODY - Frank P. "Shrimp" Trabucco Sr., 92, of Peabody, husband of the late Mary L. (Gelott) Trabucco, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 18, 2006 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Trabucco was born April 2, 1914 in Patterson, N.J., son of the late Dino and Anna (Tilly) Trabucco. He was raised in Salem and Peabody, graduating from
Peabody High School. During his high school years, he was a great athlete who was the captain of his Salem High School basketball team and who also played football at both the Salem and Peabody High Schools.

Mr. Trabucco was employed by the City of Peabody as a custodian for 18 years at the Kiley Brother Memorial School until his retirement in 1982. Prior to this, he held the same position at Salem Sate College in Salem for 3 years. He began working career as a leather worker and later worked as a machinist at the United Company in Lynn.

In addition to being a great athlete in high school, he enjoyed swimming, diving, water skiing, fishing and boating. At age 74, he began playing horseshoe, was a
member of the Hamilton Horseshoe Club, and played until 83 years-of-age. In 1994, he was the Massachusetts State Horseshoe Singles Champion in Class H and in 1997 the Friends of Danvers 1st place horseshoe winner.

He is survived by his two sons and their wives, William F. "Bill" and Yvonne Trabucco of Beverly, Frank P. "Buddy" Trabucco Jr. and Joan Trabucco of
Peabody; a daughter and her husband, Bonnie L. and Roger Gallant of Peabody; his 10 grandchildren, Lisa and Stuart Katz, Amy and Peter Capalbo of Beverly, Mark and Suzanna Trabucco, Anne Trabucco, Michelle, Phillip and Denise Gallant, all of Peabody; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Trabucco of Peabody, Nicholas, Sophia and MaryElla Capalbo of Beverly; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ann Sullivan, Josephine Hamilton, Esther "Babe" Henry and Al Trabucco.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., (new location) Peabody. Relatives and
friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. Following the service his burial of ashes will be held in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.

James F. Ayott, 56 formerly of 12 Joyce St., died on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006 at the University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester.  He was the former husband of Dorothy E. (Chiaradonna) Ayott of New Ipswich, NH.  Born in Lynn, he was the son of Rita (Connor) Ayott and the late George Ayott.  He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lynn and attended Northeastern University in Boston.  For the past four years, he worked as purchasing agent for the Ametek Company in Wilmington.  Prior to that, he worked for more than 30 years at the General Electric Corporation in Fitchburg and was in the three-year apprentice program there.  He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club as well as its charitable organization known as Elfun.  He was a former member and past president of the Townsend Community Couples Club.  He was active in and participated as a coach in the Townsend Little League Program, PAT Hockey program as well as the Townsend Youth Soccer Program.  Mr. Ayott also leaves a son, Seth C. Ayott of Studio City, Calif, a daughter, 2nd Lt. Cassandra N. Ayott, USAF of Schenectady, NY and a sister, Judith A. Ayott of Peabody.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School St, Townsend.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Townsend.  Arrangement by the T.J. Anderson and Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St. Townsend Center.

Mrs. Mary I. (McGaughey) Croteau, of Lynn, died on Monday July 10, 2006 in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness.  Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, she was the daughter of the late Leo P. and Charlotte (Lavin) McGaughey.  She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Class of 1942.  She worked at the former Lynn Hospital in the Dietary Department for 20 years until her retirement in 1988.  She was a member of the Division 10 Ancient Order of Hybernians and a communicant of St. Mary's Church.  She was also active with the Senior Citizens at Caggiano Towers.  Mrs. Croteau leaves three sons, Joseph L. Croteau of Lynn, Paul D. Croteau and his wife Kathy Croteau of Henderson, Nev. and Dennis R. Croteau of Peabody; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Jean Perry.

The funeral was held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn, on Monday July 17 at 9am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lynn.

ATHOL- Eleanor J. (Puscus-Vincent) Tepper, 92, formerly of 74 Patrick Avenue, died Sunday morning, June 4, 2006 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, following an illness.
Born in Athol on May 13, 1914, she was a daughter of Peter and Pauline (Gricunas) Puscus which later was Americanized to Vincent. Eleanor grew up in Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1931.
She was married to J. Allan Tepper Sr. in 1940 and enjoyed 40 years of marriage till his death in 1980.
She had worked at the former M.H. Fishman Department Store in Athol for eight years, then to the Cape Codder Inn on Cape Cod. Eleanor returned to the area and worked briefly at the Cogswell Manor in New Salem. She began working at the J. A. Tepper Company in Orange when it opened in 1938, and helped manage the store up until her retirement in 1979.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Orange as well as the St. Mary’s Women’s Club, having served as a Past President. She was also a Past President of the Athol Quota Club, member of the Lithuanian American R.C. Women’s Alliance and Past Treasurer of the group as well.
Eleanor enjoyed being with her family and especially enjoyed baking for them. She also was skilled in handicrafts and sewing, which he donated many items to St. Mary’s Church fairs, and was an avid card player.
Survivors include her son, J. Allan Tepper Jr. of Cary, North Carolina; her daughters, Barbara E. Vincent of Wayland, MA, Mary Lou Deehan of Dennisport, MA, and Susan E. Henshaw of Sudbury, MA; her grandchildren, Kent Grayson; Dion Nissenbaum, Scott Deehan, Christopher Deehan, Julie Craig, Cynthia Buist, Elizabeth Musewicz, and David Henshaw ; great grandchildren, Thomas Deehan, Sarah Deehan , Hayden Craig, and Liam Deehan; and several nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 11AM in St. Mary’s Church, 19 Congress Street, Orange. Fr. William Lunney will officiate. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening, June 6, 2006, from 6-8PM at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.

Wendell R. Canada, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away quietly at home on Tuesday, with his family at his side. Born in Woburn, Wendell was the son of the late Reginald and Mary (Finley) Canada. Educated in the Woburn Public Schools, he entered the United States Army following his graduation from Woburn High School. Wendell served in the European Theatre during WWII where he was assigned to the prisoner of war camps.

Upon completion of his military duties, he returned to Woburn and was employed at the Watertown Arsenal as a draftsman and engineer. He remained at the Arsenal which later became AMMRC for thirty five years. During that time, he also attended MIT where he earned a certificate in mechanical engineering. After leaving AMMRC in 1982, Wendell moved to the private section where he worked for the next ten years as an environmental engineer.

Wendell, affectionately named “Dad” by all those who knew him, was the proud father of eight children, nineteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. He was a quiet and humble gentleman who so loved being in the company of his family. Cookouts were always special occasions in the Canada family and Wendell was referred to as the “host with the most”. He thoroughly enjoyed state fairs and traveled throughout the country to attend them. A man of many faces, Wendell was very well known within the Black Repertory Theatre where he enjoyed the wonderful experience of functioning as their stage manager.

Wendell was also a longtime member of the VFW, Post 1012 in Medford and the City Club of Woburn.

    Herbert L. Knight, 88, of Stuart, Fla. and longtime Ipswich resident, died May 29, 2006, after a brief stay at the Salerno Bay Manor in Stuart, and following a long illness. He was the husband of Laurel A. (Gibbons-Miller) Knight.

    Born in Newburyport on January 11, 1918, son of the late Herbert L. and Marion (Flanders) Knight, he was a 1936 graduate of Newburyport High School.

    Following high school, he was employed as a builder at the former Robinson’s Shipyard of Ipswich. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marine Service, receiving veteran status as warrant officer, U.S. Coast Guard.

     Following his honorable discharge, Mr. Knight and his late wife, Thelma (Davis) Knight, made Ipswich their home. Mr. Knight was a self-employed carpenter and builder. During the 1960s, he had worked for several years with Connolly Brothers Builders of Beverly Farms and returned to self-employment at H.L. Knight and Knight Enterprises.

    He enjoyed horseback riding on Crane Beach, Bradley Palmer and Willowdale parks and was generous in his support of the local 4-H Club in the 1970s, hosting horse shows on his Heartbreak Road property. He enjoyed clamming, fishing, sailing and motoring his boats.

    He loved dancing, dining in and dining out and will be remembered by his family and friends for his cheerful nature, concern, love, passion and grace. Mr. Knight was a former member of the Ascension Memorial Church of Ipswich, the Ipswich Bay Yacht Club, VFW Post 1093, Ipswich, VFW Post 10132, Hobe Sound, Fla. and the Miles Grant Country Club, Stuart, Fla.

    In 1991, he married Laurel Miller. The couple resided at Bayview Road where Mr. Knight moored his cruiser, “Enterprise.” His sloop, “Augury,” was a longtime picturesque addition to Lobster Cove, Annisquam. In the 1980s and 1990s, Mr. Knight and his wife traveled to Italy, Corfu in Greece, and the Caribbean Islands. In 2001 the couple moved to Stuart, Fla., enjoying the southern climate.

    In addition to his beloved wife, Laurel, Mr. Knight is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Knight) Campbell and her husband, Kevin, of Ipswich and Deborah (Knight) Porter and her husband, William K. Fowler III, of Topsfield; one stepdaughter, Michelle Miller Ferland and her husband, Richard, of Garner, N.C.; six grandchildren, Kristin (Campbell) Glowacki and her husband, Christopher, of Rowayton, Conn., Heather (Campbell) Curry and her husband, Christopher, of Ipswich, Justin Green of Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Courtney Green, Teal and Brooke Porter, all of Topsfield; and two step-grandchildren, Chante and Felicity Ferland, both of Garner, N.C.

    His great grandchildren are Lily Waldron of Brookline and Rowayton, Conn., Albert, Herbert and Stella Glowacki, all of Rowayton, Conn., Dominick Hough of Ipswich and Beverly and Claire Curry of Ipswich.

    Mr. Knight is survived by two sisters, Annie Piecewicz of Amesbury and Marjorie Martin of Newburyport. He was the brother of the late Donald Knight and Janet Tolman, both formerly of Newbury and William Knight, formerly of Newbury.

 A funeral service with military honors will be held graveside, Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m. at Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.

Miss Wanda Bilicki, 82, of Saugus, died on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at her home.
 
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Longin and Agnes (Narewski) Bilicki.
 
She retired 23 years ago as a field representative for the Yellow Pages of the New England Tel and Nynex, now known as Verizon.
 
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Communication Workers of America CWA, Local 1301, AFL-CIO and Directory Alumni Council.
 
Miss Bilicki leaves four sisters, Sophie Callan of Groveland, Gladys Amicangioli of Wilmington, Rose Gilman of Gorham, Maine and Helen Weislik of Topsfield; and several nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Edward L. Bilicki.

Ret. Assistant Adjutant at Quigley Memorial Soldiers Home in Chelsea.

Saugus-Mr. Christie Serino, Sr., age 85, of Wickford St., died Saturday afternoon at his home. He was the husband of the late Madeline (Naso) Serino.

Born, raised an a lifelong resident of Saugus, he was the son of the late Vincenzo & Veneranda DiChiara.

Mr. Serino retired as the Assistant Adjutant at the Quigley Memorial Soldiers Home in Chelsea for 10 years and continuing on as a member of the Board of Trustees until presently. He also worked for 35 years at the former A. Cogliano Food Mart in Saugus and was the former owner of the Latin Villa Restaurant in Lynn for 9 years.

Mr. Serino was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War Two and Korea. He was a member of the S/Sgt. Arthur F. DeFranzo Post 2346, Knights of Columbus Council #1829 and the ITAM all of Saugus. Mr. Serino was a former member of the Saugus Board of Selectman, Town Meeting and served on many other Boards and Committees for the Town of Saugus. He also was a founding member of the Saugus Boosters Club.

He leaves two sons, Christie Serino, Jr. and his wife Robin; Frank Serino and his wife Karen all of Saugus; one daughter, Maddie (Serino) Glavin and her husband Ray “Skip” of Saugus; three sisters, Louise O’Connell, Antoinette Howell, Mary Valliere all of Saugus; 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He also was the brother of the late Angelo Serino, Anthony Serino, Joseph Serino, James Serino and Rose Peveri.

The Funeral will be held from the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS, Thursday at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Margaret’s Church, 431 Lincoln Ave., Saugus at 9 a.m.

Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

PEABODY — Daniel L. Moriarty Jr., 81, of Essex Green Lane, Peabody, died at Union Hospital, on Thursday,
May 18, 2006, after a brief illness.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Daniel L. and Ann (Twomey) Moriarty. He resided in Peabody for more
than 40 years.

He was the husband of Marilyn A. (Whelan-Ryan) Moriarty, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage. He
was also the husband of the late Ann C. (Nagle) Moriarty, who passed away in 1979, after 30 years of
marriage.

He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, where he excelled in football and baseball, under the
leadership of the late Bill Joyce.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. in the Pacific Area conflicts.

He spent his working career in the Yellow Pages, Division of New England Tel and Tel, now known as
Verizon, where he retired out of management.

After his retirement, he enjoyed golf and travel.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael (formerly worked in Sales) and his wife Elisa Moriarty

(formerly worked in PC, Sales, HR) of North Reading and Marco Island, Fla., and Daniel L. III and his wife Tina
Moriarty of Beverly; one daughter, Jayne (formerly worked in CSD and HR) and her
husband Thomas O'Shea of Salem; two stepsons, Thomas Ryan of Zambia, Africa, and David Ryan of Lynn; one stepdaughter, Connie Ahearn of Peabody; seven grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Marilyn Gilmore, and Carol Hanlon.

John A. Meere, III, 24, of Newbury and former resident of Amesbury, died Saturday, May 13, 2006 of complications from pneumonia at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.

John was born May 5, 1982 in Salem, Massachusetts. He was raised in Boxford and Newbury. He attended Perkins School for the Blind, in Watertown, MA for high school. While attending Perkins School, John played the Saxophone and the Electric guitar in the school band. John maintained a high grade point average, mastering his computer skills and conquering Braille. John graduated from Perkins School in 2001.

John was humorous and advantageous. He enjoyed skiing, skating, Karate, mountain climbing, biking and sailing. He enhanced his Independent Living skills through a program at Carroll Center for the Blind, in Newton, MA and completed the program, gaining valuable skills for living with a disability, and leading a productive life working, commuting, cooking, and surfing the internet.

John was employed part-time by Trader Joes gourmet grocery store, in Swampscott, MA, during such time he lived in his own apartment independently.

John was a member of the Juvenile Diabetes Organization, and walked at fund-raisers for the American Diabetes Association.

John will be greatly missed by all who touched his life. He is survived by his Father and Stepmother, Jack and Adrianne Meere of Newbury, and his Mother and Stepfather, Lauria and Paul Strazzero and his sister; Jamie Strazzero, all of Boxford, MA. He is the grandson of Mrs. Nicolina Meere, of Swampscott, and grandson to the late Madeline and William Donaher, formerly of Nahant. John is also survived by five uncles and aunts, and fifteen cousins.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 11AM in Holy Family Parish Church, 26 Bessom St., Lynn. LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Edward J. Clukey, born in Danvers, son of the late Andrew and Annie Clukey, formerly from Salem and retired in Lehigh Acres, Edward J. ClukeyFla., died Sunday, May 14, 2006, unexpectedly at home in Lehigh Acres.

Ed was a member of Majestic Golf Club, and a past member of Wenham Country Club. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Carol (Brimicombe) Clukey.  He leaves his sons, Mark and his partner Robert Burgos, Michael and his wife Lillian Chalifour, and his son Stephen; and brothers, Andrew Clukey of New Hampshire, and Henry Clukey of Tennessee. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dylan, and Tess Clukey; nephew, Christopher Brimicombe; and several other nieces and nephews.

George L. "Red" Cawley, 81, of Salem, died Friday morning, May 5, 2006 in the Peabody Glenn
Nursing Home, surrounded by his three loving daughters. He was predeceased by his wife Josephine T.
(Barrett) Cawley in November, 2005.

Mr. Cawley was born in Peabody, the son of the late Henry L. and Ethel F. (Brown) Cawley, and raised on
Phelps Street in Salem. Educated in Salem schools, Mr.Cawley was graduated from St. Johnsburry Academy in
Vermont, where he remained active with the Alumni Association. After his graduation, with the war on, he
enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. A week following his enlistment, he was assigned to the
U.S.S. Signet in Southwest Harbor, Maine. After a few months, he was reassigned to a Troop Transport, the
U.S.S. Callaway APA35 as a Commissary Man, 2nd Class. While in Brooklyn, N.Y., prior to going overseas, he
met his late wife, Josephine (Jo) Cawley (worked in Commissions) with whom he had shared 60-years of
marriage. Leaving New York Harbor, they traveled through the Panama Canal and up to San Diego. There,
the embarked troops and proceeded to the invasion of Kwaselin Atoll as the first hit back at Japanese held
territory. Following this invasion, they crossed the Pacific for the next two years, taking part in nine
invasions. The ship was hit twice by kamikazes and lost over 40 crew members. Many decorations were
bestowed, including the Presidential Citation and the Philippine Presidential Citation.

Following his discharge, he became employed for 30 years at the former Swift Meat Company. His first
responsibilities were as a delivery driver and later as a meat cutter in Salem until retiring as manager.

Proud of his county and military responsibilities, he was a member and past Commander of the A.M.V.E.T.S
Post 53 in Salem, and a member of the U.S.S. Calaway Alumni Association.

Mr. Cawley was dedicated to his family and enjoyed working around his yard at home, doing landscaping and
gardening projects as well as building a skating rink for his family every winter. He was also active a
Wesley Methodist Church, where he had sung in the choir for many years. An avid golfer, Mr. Cawley had
passion for golf, which he shared with his family and spent many days teaching his grandchildren. He also
enjoyed all the activity of Salem Willows, where he would rent rowboats to go fishing with his family in
the summer.

Mrs. Cawley is survived by three daughters, Carol Frasier and her life-partner David D'Auria of Columbia, Md., Barbara and her husband Richard St.Pierre of Peabody, and Elizabeth "Beth" and her husband Paul Debski of Salem; five grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Brooke Frasier, Katie St. Pierre, Robert St. Pierre, Meghan Debski, Alex Debski; a sister, Carolyn "Bunny" LeBlanc of Jacksonville, Fla.; a cousin, Arnold "Bump" Cawley of North Sandwich, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal
St., (corner of North Street), Salem, to be followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the Wesley Methodist

Kevin M. Miner  56, of 114 Blueberry Lane, Laconia, NH died suddenly on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, NH. He was born January 27, 1950 in Lynn, MA, the son of Frank & Irene (Comeau) Miner. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn High School and from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Survivors include his wife Virginia "Ginny" (Garver) French, of Laconia; two sons, James Miner and Colin Miner, both of Strafford, NH; two stepdaughters, Kara French and Leia French, both of Laconia; his brothers and sisters, Catherine Miner of Massachusetts, Terry Miner of North Carolina, Stephen Miner of Kansas, Arthur Miner, Francis Miner, Patsy Warry, Carolyn Miner, Timothy Miner, John Miner and Mary Miner all of Massachusetts and Mark Miner of Texas. Jaye D. Clark, 56, a lifetime resident of Ipswich, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at Kindred Healthcare in Peabody after losing her fight with cancer. Born and raised in Ipswich, she was the daughter of Rip and the late Arlene (Bunker) Clark.  

She was a graduate of Ipswich High School, class of 1967, and Chandler School for Woman in Boston. 

Jaye was the purchasing agent for the town of Ipswich for 19 years before leaving for the big city of Boston to become a legal secretary. She worked for Nixon & Peabody for 18 years until her illness in June of 2005. 

She was the pianist for the Ipswich Grange before it disbanded in 1969, a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary and a member of the Seacoast Cat Club. Jaye spent the last 10 years breeding beautiful champion Chartreux cats and enjoyed traveling to the many area cat shows.   Many of their offspring have also gone on to become champions. She was well noted as a vibrant, loving, caring and funny friend to many. 

In addition to her Dad and his wife, Janet Workman Clark of Plaistow, NH, she is survived by her brother Wayne Clark of Cumberland, ME. and her sister Sandra Noe & her husband Kenneth Blades of Ipswich. She also leaves a nephew, Commander S. Scott Noe stationed in Japan with the US Navy and 2 nieces, Amy and Margaret Clark of Cumberland, ME. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

By her request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held at Cowles Highland Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Rd, Ipswich., Friday, April 21 at 11:30am, , Arrangements by Whittier-Porter Funeral Home.

Mary Jane Messina, 53 years of Lynn died Saturday in a local nursing home after a long illness. She is the daughter of Vincent and Mary (Daley) Messina of Lynn. She was born in Lynn, and she attended Lynn Schools.  She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. She also  attended Graham Junior College. She lived in Lynn all of her life. She was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers, she loved animals and owned an Afghan hound. She also loved her Corvettes and was a member of North Shore Corvette Club. She was employed as a Customer Service Representative for Directory Yellow Pages for many years.

In addition to her parents she is survived by 2 brothers Vincent Messina of Chicester, NH and Michael Messina of Lowell. She also leaves 2 nieces Heidi Puchulu and Keri Messina, 2 nephews Kenneth and Anthony Messina, 2 grand Nephews Gavin and Tyler Puchulu. She also leaves several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

CHAINEY – Dolores M. (Nelson) Chainey, age 76 years, wife of the late Ralph S. Chainey, Jr., died Friday evening, March 31, 2006 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late William and Elsie (Wood) Nelson. Dolores was a graduate of Lynn English High School. She had been a resident of Beverly for the past 45 years.

Mrs. Chainey was employed with Johnny Appleseed’s in Beverly for over 20 years. She was an accounts receivable clerk for the company. Following her employment with Johnny Appleseed’s, Dolores went to work for Henry’s Market, on a part time basis, in their bakery department. Dolores enjoyed traveling and most especially enjoyed Nova Scotia and day trips. She enjoyed the beach and being outdoors. She enjoyed family gatherings, she took in a lot of life, and she enjoyed life to its fullest.

 Surviving her are 2 children, Ralph S. Chainey III and his girlfriend Hope W. Warner of Beverly; Debbie Miller of Beverly; one sister, Audrey “Penny” Lufkin of Reading; 3 grandchildren, Brian and Scott Miller and Angela Chainey, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Muriel Melanson and Eunice Webber.

Ann S. (Burtman) Bass, 88, of Marblehead, died March 27, 2006. She was the beloved wife of the late Saul Bass.
 

    Born in Lynn, she had lived in Marblehead for many years. She was educated in Lynn schools and was a homemaker. She was a wonderful artist for her own enjoyment.
 
    Mrs. Bass was the mother of Diane Yudin, wife of Marshall, of Mystic, Conn., Cecile Nickerson, wife of Earnest, of Lynn, Rhonda Smith, wife of William, of North Granby, Conn., Debra Shauffer, wife of Kenneth, of Marblehead; brother of Martin Burtman (Arlene Burtman) of Lynn and the late Norman and George Burtman; grandmother of Lisa, Shana, Amy, David, Daniel, Jennifer, Sarah, Marc and Nicole; and great-grandmother of 12.

Thaddeus J. “Ted” Gizycki, age 81, of Lynn, died Friday March 31, 2006 at The New England Home For The Deaf, Danvers after a brief illness. Born in Lynn, he is the son of the late Felix and Anna (Zygar) Gizycki.
He was raised in Lynn and is a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He has lived in Lynn his entire life.
He worked for General Electric in West Lynn and Wilmington for 47 years until his retirement in 1985. He received the Award for Outstanding Performance in Calibrating. He was also a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna Lejeune and her husband Emanual “Manny” of Danvers, 2 grandsons; David Lejeune and his wife Melissa Donnelly of Lynn and Eddy Lejeune of Lynn; and 2 great-grandchildren; Joie Lynn Donnelly and Jacob Lejeune. He also leaves 2 sisters; Jennie Levesque of Lynn, and Monica Barton of Rochester, NY as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is the brother of the late Gerald Gizycki and Mary Therrien.

Winifred M. Strain, 81, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, died Friday, March 31 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Born in Wakefield on April 16, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mary (Wenzel) Russell.

Mrs. Strain was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1942. She was a former employee of L.B. Evans Shoe Company of Wakefield, American Mutual Insurance of Wakefield and Cubby Hole Stationary in Wakefield. Mrs. Strain was a member of St. Florence Church in Wakefield. She enjoyed spending winters in Fort Myers, Florida.

Mrs. Strain was the wife of the late Harold C. Strain. She is survived by her two daughters; Maureen Cheever and her husband David and Kathleen Casazza and her husband Stephen all of North Reading, her sister Dorothy Johnson of Wakefield, her 5 grandchildren; Sadie and Clayton Cheever and Carly, Laura and Alison Casazza and her great grandson Keith Butler. Mrs. Strain was predeceased by her brother Edgar Russell.

Robert L. Gabriel  Former Nashua legislator

Robert L. "Gabe" Gabriel, 78, of Nashua, N.H., died Feb. 4, 2006, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

Mr. Gabriel was born Feb. 21, 1927, son of the late Omer and Alice (Meunier) Gabriel. He was a lifelong Nashua resident. He was the husband of Alice M. (Boggis) Gabriel, whom he married June 24, 1950. Mr. Gabriel worked for New England Telephone Co. for more than 31 years.

He was a football official for many years. He coached Pop Warner football and was president of the former Nashua Varsity Club. He served two years in the state Legislature and was on the board of directors of the Nashua Center for the Handicapped. He played football at Colby College.

Mr. Gabriel was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the 11th Airborne Division Association, American Legion Post 3 and VFW Post 483. In 1995, he was inducted in the Nashua High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, J. Omer Gabriel and Edgar Gabriel; and two sisters, Constance Fredette and Isabelle Broderick.

Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dorris A. and Loren Blair of Belmont; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Brenda Gabriel of Nashua, Scott L. and Christine Gabriel of Bedford, Bruce C. and Melanie Gabriel, and Paul J. Gabriel, all of Nashua; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerard and Phyllis Gabriel of Chicago; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Clayton Hanson of Nashua; an aunt, Veronica Gabriel of Nashua; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Marion (Grouchey) Coombs. She had been a
lifelong resident of Salem.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a trust officer by the former Naumkeag Trust Co., Salem,
for many years. Shirley was a very active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Salem and worked on various church projects for many years. She also was a member of the Women's Friend Society of Salem, the AARP, and the YMCA of Beverly. Shirley was also a volunteer at Salem Hospital.

Surviving her are two sisters, Florence Doane of Newton, and Marion Soper of Lynn; five nieces and
nephews, Doreen Fitts of Beverly, Shirley Belisle of Salem, Roger LeClerc of Salem, Kenneth Doane of Ohio,
and Allen Doane of New York; a godchild, Danielle Belisle; and great-nieces and nephews, Tiffany
LaRoche, Marie Doane, Justin Doane, Andrew LeClerc, and Bobby Belisle.

Mrs.Gertrude F. (Nazzaro) Cipriani, of Lynn, died Friday March 17, 2006, after a brief illness. She was the wife of John V. Cipriani, her husband of 47 years.

Born in Winthrop, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Nazzaro. She grew up in Revere, and was a graduate of Revere High School, class of 1954. After living in East Boston for a short period of time, she and her husband moved to Lynn 40 years ago.

Mrs. Cipriani was a family oriented person, who loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Donald J. Robichaud, 54, of Ipswich, longtime companion of Donna L. Doughty, died March 2, 2006, at his home following a brief illness.

Born in Lynn on September 24, 1951, son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Gaudet) Robichaud, he was a 1970 graduate of Lynn Classical High School.  He had been employed as a boiler operator at JB Thomas Hospital for several years and later worked at the General Electric Riverworks plant as a pipefitter in the aircraft engine division, retiring in 1998.  In addition to his companion of 26 years, Mr. Robichaud is survived by his sisters, Carol D’Eon of Lynn and Nancy Avoletta of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Daniel Robichaud, formerly of North Andover. His funeral service was held March 6 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.

Mrs. Marguerite “Peggy” (Vacca) Premo, age 84 years, wife of the late Kenneth H. Premo, who died on October 11, 2005, died Tuesday afternoon, March 7, 2006 at the Herrick House in Beverly. Born and raised in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Elvira (Gasparri) Vacca.

An honorably discharged veteran, she served her country during World War II as a Storekeeper 2nd class for the United States Navy.

After raising her three children, Mrs. Premo joined the workforce. She had been employed at Bay Bank in Beverly prior to her employment as Assistant Tax Collector for the Town of Hamilton.

A resident of the Hamilton/Wenham area for the past forty years, she was a communicant of the Church of St. Paul in Hamilton. She was a member of the LOFE (Living Options for Elderly) and the American Legion Post 194 in Hamilton.

Peggy also enjoyed traveling, especially the many cruises she took all around the world with her husband Ken. Together, they visited six of the seven continents. She also loved to read and to play cards. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her beloved family.
 

Surviving her are two daughters, Jean Costas and her husband Charles of Ridgefield, CT and Diane Ifkovic and her husband William of Guilford, CT; one son, Kenneth Premo Jr. and his wife Sandra of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Kenneth Premo III, Pamela Premo, Joseph Premo, Nicole Costas and Christopher Costas and his wife Allison; six great grandchildren; Victoria and Olivia Premo, MacKenzie and Meghan Haines and Nikolas and Brianna Costas. She was predeceased by a sister, Susan Bianchi.

A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. Paul, Hamilton on Saturday at 9:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Wenham Cemetery, Wenham. Mrs. Lucy Anne (Barnes) Kirk, 86 years, died on Tuesday at Abbott House Nursing Home in Lynn. She was the wife the late Henry M. Kirk.

Mrs. Kirk was a devoted mother of eight children raising her family in Peabody and Saugus. In 1972 she moved to Titusville, Florida where she was very active in the Humane Society. She returned to Lynn in 2000 and became active with GLSS.

She is survived by her eight children; Doranne Whittredge of Lynn, Howard V. Cronin, Jr. and his wife Allison of FL, Lucianne Cronin and her partner Danna Ray of NC, Thomas Cronin & his wife Linda of Swampscott,
Cheryl L. Cronin of No. Andover, Matthew H. Kirk & his wife Linda of Millville, Douglas S. Kirk & his wife Almena Smith of CA, Heather M. Kirk & her husband Suleyman Celimli of Lynnfield. Mrs. Kirk was the sister of Carmella Agria of CT. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Scott Whittredge & his wife Stacy, Dale Whittredge & his wife Lori, Robin Peters & her husband Michael, Neil Whittredge & his Cheryl, Tracy, Corey, Zachery, & Aaron Cronin, Seth Wilton-Cronin, Sarah Cronin, Matthew Kirk, Merideth Doucette and her husband Jack, Osman Celimli, Evren Celimli & his wife Allison and 11 great grandchildren. She was the sister-in-law of Thelma Kirk of Chelsea.

BEARD, CATHERINE M. -- Catherine M. (Zollo) Beard, 84, died late Friday evening at a local nursing facility. She was the wife of the late E. Eugene Beard, who died in 1994.

Born in Salem on July 25, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Flynn) Zollo. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1938. She resided in Danvers until the late 1970s, when she and her husband retired to Englewood, FL. She returned to this area in recent years, residing with her daughter and son-in-law in Wakefield.

Mrs. Beard was employed as a bookkeeper at Danvers Hardware for many years until her retirement.

She was a founding member of the Riverside Squares in Danvers and was a Round Dance caller; she and her husband continued square dancing and classes in Florida. She also enjoyed playing beano and cards.

She was a member and officer of the Englewood Lions Club; and was an active volunteer at her church, in hospitals, and in nursing homes while in Florida.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: John and Nancy Beard of Rowley, Thomas and Brenda Beard of ME; Cynthia and Perry Luke of Wakefield, and Susan Beard and Bob Canzano of Beverly; a brother, John “Jack” Zollo; her grandchildren: Ty, Wade, Kaitrin, Kelsey, Caileen, and Emmaleen Beard; step- granddaughters: Jennifer Whitney, Jessica Hudson and Joella Wieselquist and her great-grandchildren: Andrew, David, Erik and Dylan.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant Street, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Anthony "Tony" Tripoli

Anthony A. Tripoli 81 of Medfield died Thursday after a long illness in the St. Patrick´s Manor Framingham, MA.

Born in Boston, he was raised in East Boston and lived in Medford for over 55 years. Anthony was a shipping and receiving food manager at Boston College for many years and retired 14 years ago. Mr. Tripoli was an usher for many years at St. Clement Church in Medford.

Beloved husband of the late Mary (Storlazzi) Tripoli. Loving brother of Mary Sammartino of Brighton, Frank Tripoli of East Boston, Mildred Pace of Salem, and the late Salvatore Tripoli. Brother in law of Michael and Pauline Szymanski of Medford. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Monday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 AM.

Louise S. (O’Rourke) Doran 77 years of Peabody, wife of the late Edward W. Doran, died Sunday afternoon at her home after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Doran was born on February 20, 1928 in Cambridge daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Damon) O’Rourke. She was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin High School in 1941. Mrs. Doran resided in the Boston area before moving to Peabody in 1961.

Mrs. Doran began her working career at the New England Telephone Company. After raising her family she returned to work for Nynex. During her tenure she worked in the Boston and North Shore areas. She retired in 1992 from the Nynex Middleton office after 25 years with a management position (worked in YP Production). She supported foster children in South America thru Christian Organizations. She was an animal lover who had a special admiration for birds and she always made sure they were well fed.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Edward W. Doran Jr. and Susan Doran of Peabody, Janine McCarron of Salem NH, Barbara and Norman Perry Arundel ME and Norine and Robert Fiore of Peabody; a brother, James O’Rourke of FL; a sister, Frances Riley of Billerica; 7 grandchildren, James and Michael McCarron of No. Andover, Jaclyn Perry of ME, Nicole DiGiacamo, Jaimie and Kristi Fiore and Matthew Pearson all of Peabody; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her daughter Lisa Gildea and her siblings Helen Herman, Charles and Lawrence O’Rourke pre deceased her.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody. SALEM — Marguerite "Memere" (Proulx) Lavoie, 97, formerly of 27 Charter St. and Pioneer Terrace, Salem,
died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21, 2006, in Peabody Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late
Leopold Lavoie and a longtime Salem resident.

Born and raised in Quebec, Canada, one of 10 children, Mrs. Lavoie was educated in the St. Patrice Parish
Convent School. In 1928 at the age of 20, Mrs. Lavoie married her late husband and moved to Chase Street in
Salem.

Her family and friends were always happy to see her walk into a room and "light it up." Known for her keen
sense of humor, she enjoyed sharing stories. Mrs. Lavoie also enjoyed playing card games of poker and
kitty whist, as well as bingo.

Mrs. Lavoie is survived by two daughters, Lorraine and her husband, Roland Levesque, of Beverly and Claire
and her husband, Robert Field, of Salem; a sister, Sister Berthe Proulx, Sisters of Good Shepard of
Quebec Canada; seven grandchildren, Joanne Lund, Claire Welenc, Richard Field, Carol Alvino, Janet
Watkins, Kathleen Osgood, and Jacqueline Field; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 9:15 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North Street), Salem, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. James

LAS VEGAS — Ines M. Barbaro, 78, of Las Vegas and formerly of Danvers, died on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006,
in Salem Hospital, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Donald A. Barbaro.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (Riccio) Santomango. She was a
graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1945.

Mrs. Barbaro worked for the Town of Danvers in the Thorpe School for more than 20 years, retiring in
1986. In earlier years, Mrs. Barbaro lived in Swampscott. A resident of Danvers for more than 38
years, she spent her retirement as a resident of Las Vegas.

Mrs. Barbaro was a member of Local 1098 AFSCME. She was also a communicant and a member of St. Richard's
Sodality.

Mrs. Barbaro leaves three sons, John A. Barbaro of Sebago, Maine and his wife, Cathy, Paul M. Barbaro of
Peabody and his wife, Randa, and Peter D. Barbaro of Rowley and his wife, Jill; a daughter, Anne L. Hogan
of Danvers and her husband, Brian; siblings, Cam Lambert of Peabody and her husband, Richard, Marge
Finnerty of Bedford, Marie Di Ramio of Juno Beach, Fla. and her husband, Victor; grandchildren, Chris,
Lori, Jenn, Kristen, Lisa, Emily Barbaro, Matthew and Andrew Hogan; longtime dear friend, Ida Pitzi of Lynn;
and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Phyllis and Anthony Pietrogallo of Middleton; and several nieces

She was the sister of the late Anthony Santomango and his wife, Lois, of Alton Bay, N.H.

Ethel M. (Smith) Gallant, age 81, of Lynn, died Sunday, January 15th, 2006 in a local nursing home, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Arthur W. Gallant Sr., and the daughter of the late Walter and Julia M. (Williams) Smith. Born and raised in Lynn, she has lived in Lynn all her life. A graduate of St. Joseph’s Institute and Lynn English High School, class of 1942, she worked as an administrative secretary at the Assessor’s office in Lynn City Hall,. She later worked for the DCASO (Defense Dept.) at General Electric, Rook’s Departments Store and Empire Clothing Company, where she retired from in 1977. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Lynn. Mrs. Gallant enjoyed singing, sewing, time spent at Lynn beach and ballroom dancing.
Besides her husband, Arthur of more than 55 years, she is survived by her two sons Arthur Gallant Jr. of Lynn and Ronald Gallant & his wife Gale of Gloucester; three daughters, Deborah Greathead & her husband Jim of Lynn, Darlene Gallant of Lynn and Denise Davis and her husband Brian of Bradford. She also leaves her sister Marion “Rita” Jamont and her husband Ben of Salem, her grandchildren, Cerrone Gallant & his wife Melissa, Jarob “Jay”, Mathew, Jillian, Christopher and Tashima Gallant and her great grandchildren Juleasa Vasquez, Jamie Broussard and Juliann Gallant. She also leaves several nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Ruth Letorneau and Jean Smith.
Her funeral will be held from the Solimine, Landergan & Richardson Funeral Home 67 Ocean St (Rt1A) Lynn on Thursday at 9:00AM, followed by Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Lynn at 10:00AM. Born in Stoneham, she was a lifelong resident of Saugus. Ms. Brown was employed as an administrative secretary at Henkel Corporation. She would enjoy dinner and a show every Saturday evening.
