SALEM — Helena A. (Hincman) Keaton, 68, of Salem, died at her home Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Bobby G. "Rebel" Keaton.

Born in Salem, the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna (Lojko) Hincman, she had been a lifelong resident of Salem.

Helena had been employed as a proofreader for the New England Telephone Company, currently known as Verizon for over 27 years. After her retirement, Helena had worked at the City of Salem polls on Election Day at the Bentley School in Ward I. She also worked for the city in their parking commission office for a time.

Helena spent her whole life dedicated to her children and family, although her greatest enjoyment came from the quality time she spent with her grandchildren.

Surviving her are two sons, Scott R. Keaton and his wife Nancy of Beverly, Shawn V. Keaton and his wife Tracy of Seabrook, N.H.; daughter, Cheryl A. St. Amand and her husband Steven of Salem; a brother, Raymond Hincman and his wife Pauline of Salem; sister-in-law, Olga Hincman of Salem; brother-in-law, Michael Keaton of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Christopher, Bridget, Ashley and Brady Keaton; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Fred Hincman.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours in the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Parking available in the church parking lot across the street from the funeral home.

Elizabeth C. (Campbell) Jelley, 78, of Lowell, died Thursday morning, at Lowell General Hospital. She was the wife of Raymond F. Jelley (Ray worked in the Lowell crew and retired in 1984) with whom she would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in April. Born in Lowell, October 17, 1929, the daughter of the late Richard and the late Helena (Kane) Campbell. She attended St. Patrick Grammar School, and graduated from Lowell High School class of 1947. Prior to her retirement, she was a sales clerk at the former Bon Marche in Lowell. Mrs. Jelley enjoyed being with her family, and loved vacationing, especially at the beach with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Gail Fuller and her husband, James of Hawaii, and Elizabeth Jelley of Hudson, NH; a son, Raymond F. Jelley, Jr., and his wife, Jill of California; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Patricia Bailey and her husband, Henry of Lowell, Rose Marie Prescott of Nashua, NH, Marcella McGilvery and her husband, Kenneth of Lowell, and Barbara Angluin of Lowell; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Frances Terry, Mary Louise Lewis, and Richard "Bud" Campbell. Funeral Services were held privately at the convenience of her family. Margaret P. (McLaughlin) Burgess, age 101 years, died Friday, November 30, 2007, in Union Hospital, Lynn, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Burgess, and the daughter of the late John & Pauline (Kane) McLaughlin. Born in Boston, she was raised in St. Johns, New Brunswick, Canada. She has lived in Lynn for the past 75 years. A graduate of the Rosary Academy in Watertown, she was a homemaker. She also was a bookkeeper for her husband‘s oil business. Mrs. Burgess enjoyed bowling at Lucky Strike Lanes in Lynn until she was 96 years old. She also enjoyed traveling with the senior citizens tours, working crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy on television. She attended St. Ann’s Church in Peabody.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by her four sons, Gerard, Gordon and Joseph Burgess Jr., all of Lynn, her two daughters, Elaine Janis of Peabody and Margot Mylott of Worcester. She also leaves 30 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren/ She was the mother of the late Pauline Burgess and Robert F. Burgess.
Funeral from the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN & RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt129) Lynn, MA on Tuesday at 9:00 AM, followed by funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Mrs. Norma M. (Williams) Galeazzi, 72 years of Lynn died Sunday in her home after a brief illness. She is the wife of the late Leo L. Galeazzi. She was born in Lynn the daughter of the late Arnold “Jack” and Florence (Gagne) Williams. She was raised in Lynn , was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School and lived in Lynn all of her life.
Norma loved to bake and cook. She was famous for her cakes. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. Many years ago she was employed as a seamstress.
She is survived by two daughters:
Donna J. LeJeune and her husband Claude of Danvers and Carol Ann Neff and her husband Kenneth of Bow, NH. , Six grandchildren:
David and Eddy LeJeune, Samuel L., Gabriel, Benjamin and Grace Neff,. 2 great grandchildren: Jacob LeJeune and Joie Lynn Donnelly. She also leaves two sisters: Margaret Scully and her husband Francis of Lady Lake FL, Gina Hogan and her husband John of San Diego CA and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine S. Curran, 88

Former Lynn resident

BEDFORD, NH — Mrs. Catherine S. (Salerno) Curran, formerly of Lynn died on Tuesday at her home in Bedford, NH where she was lovingly cared for by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Eileen Curran, their family members and other relatives. She was 88 years old.

Born in Lynn, on December 14, 1918, she lived there for 80 years until the death of her husband Dale E. Curran. They were married for 59 years. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agatha Salerno.

Mrs. Curran attended Lynn Public Schools and was graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1937. She was an avid housekeeper and gardener. She worked for many years at the former Burrows and Sanborn Department Store on Union St., Lynn and later for Unitrode Co. in Salem, MA. She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

She was a woman of strong faith, character, and conviction. She lived through the depression, World War II, the loss of three children, and all of her siblings. She was a very spirited woman who was well known for her willingness to try anything around her home, from tree and beehive removals, to construction and home repairs. She considered nothing to be impossible. She was a great cook, and loved preparing for and entertaining her family on holidays.

Mrs. Curran leaves one son
Michael Curran and his wife Eileen of Bedford, NH, with whom she has lived for the past eight years, she also leaves two daughters, Kathleen Melanson & her husband Richard of Lynn, and Mary Johnson & her husband James of Salem, her daughter-in-law Irene Curran of Lynn. She leaves 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was predeceased by her daughter Carole Rose and 2 sons Dale E. Curran, Jr. & Robert Curran.

Elaine (Frisone) Garzone, 62, of Peabody, beloved wife of 42 years to Peter Garzone, lost her battle to Colon Cancer on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.

She was born in Lynn, the daughter of the late Joseph and Olive (Rice) Frisone. She graduated from Lynn English High School in 1962, and then attended Burdett School of Business in 1963. She has been a resident of Peabody for the past 42 years.

She was a Customer Service Representative with Verizon for 26 years. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and a great friend. Family and friendship time filled with conversation and love was most important to her.

Besides her loving husband Peter, she will be missed by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and his wife Patricia Garzone, and their children, Cassandra and Joshua, all of Groveland, Dr. Steven and his wife Dr. Tiffany Garzone, and their daughter, Natalie, all of Rocky Mount, NC, and William and his wife Lisa Garzone of Amesbury, her sister, Claire and her husband William Brennan of Danvers, her two brothers, Vincent Frisone of Danvers, and William Frisone of Michigan, her two sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Stanley and Janet Kosidlak of Williamsburg, VA, and Nancy Romano of Stoneham, and is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. LAKE CHARLES, La. - Peter Bogash, 48, of Lake Charles, La., formerly of Hampton, N.H., died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 of complications from diabetes.

Born in Peabody on Feb. 24, 1959, he was the son of Victor and Mary Lou Ruxton Bogash.

He was raised in Peabody, and was a 1977 graduate of Peabody Vocational High School.

He worked for Verizon from 1983 to 2003 as a lineman and technician.

Pete was a talented musician and guitar player. He was best known for his local rock band Bogash, formed in the 70s with his friends Tom Irvine, George Glynos, and Al Miano. Peter also had a passion for designing and building custom guitar tube amplifiers, he was always in search of the perfect tone.

Pete was also a family man, he raised a son, Jeremy, helped to coach his baseball team, took him hunting, and was a positive influence in his life. Pete also enjoyed fishing with his dad, playing with his dogs, and riding his motorcycle. Pete was always known for his kindness and generosity, he was genuinely a good person, and always tried to help people. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, and those that knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Edward of Peabody; sister, Janice, her husband Andrew Mehan; and nephew, Daniel Bogash Mehan of Herndon, Va.; former wife, Evelyn Bogash of Seabrook, N.H.; step-son, Jeremy Archambault of Manchester, N.H.; his aunt and uncle, Barbara and James Smerczynski of Peabody; many cousins, many old and new friends; and his good friends Charles and Sandra Vidrine of Lake Charles, La. who were always there to help him.

ARRANGEMENTS: Pete's wishes were to be cremated, his ashes to be spread at one of his favorite places, Hampton Beach, with his friends, in the spring. Memorial donations may be made in Pete's memory to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

Mr. Mitchell J. Conroy, 56 years of Lynn died in Beth Israel Hospital on Thursday after a long illness. He is the husband of Mrs.
Patricia A. (Carroccino) Conroy (currently a supervisor of what was formerly called NYPS, now called National - Local Transfer Group). He was born in Lowell. He was the son of Elizabeth (Muise) Conroy of Reading and the late Eugene Conroy. He was raised in North Reading and he was a graduate of Reading High School. He has lived in Lynn the past 24 years.
Mr. Conroy was an Army veteran and served as a tank commander. He served from 1970 to 1985. His last duty station was Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was an avid golfer, loved to swim and play video games. Mr. Conroy loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his career in the US Army upon his retirement in 1985 he worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Lynnfield. He enjoyed his job as a letter carrier, he often would shovel sidewalks, take in garbage barrels and even play Santa Claus. He ran the Haven from Hunger Food Drive for the Lynnfield Post Office. He retired in 2004.
In addition to his wife with whom he shared 35 years, and his mother he is survived by 2 daughters: Jennifer C. Allen and her husband Mark and Kelly A. Conroy all of Lynn. He is the grandfather of Paige MacLean, Ronnie and Tyler Allen, all of Lynn.
He is the brother of Donald Conroy of North Reading, Larry Conroy of Billerica, William Conroy of Maine, Richard Conroy of New Hampshire, Marion Stanley of Maine and Russell Conroy of Texas. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.


Mr. Conroy’s Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM from the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rte 129) Lynn followed by a funeral mass at St. Pius V Church, Lynn at 10:30 AM. DANVERS - Mrs. Margaret L. "Peg" Reppucci, 55, of Danvers, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of James Reppucci, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of Virgilyne (Hudson) Nelson of Danvers, and the late Walter P. Nelson. She attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1969. She also attended North Shore Community College.

Mrs. Reppucci was employed at Verizon in the customer service department for the past seven years.

She is survived by one son, James Reppucci Jr. of Salem; one daughter, Tania Reppucci of Newton; two brothers, Charles Long of Naples, Fla., Wayne Nelson of Amesbury; one sister, Pat Coraine of Manchester, N.H.; one brother-in-law, John J. and his wife Diane Reppucci. She was also sister of the late Kerry Nelson.

Mrs. Beatrice M. (Griffin) Kody died on Friday after a serious decline in health. She was the wife of the late Michael E. “Mickey” Kody who died in 1985. Bea was 85 years old and shared 37 years of marriage with Mickey. Bea was born in Boston on March 16, 1922 to the late James & Beatrice (Fitzgerald) Griffin. She was raised in Reading, graduating from Reading High School in 1939. She was employed as a secretary for a Boston business firm until shortly after her marriage. For a short time, she worked part-time mothers hours at the former First National Chain. When her children were older, she worked as a credit investigator for Sears Roebuck & Co. until 1985, at which time she retired to spend time with her husband, only to find that he had cancer and he died 5 months later; but Bea stepped up to the challenge of caring for him at home in the last weeks of his life. As a younger woman, Bea enjoyed dancing with her husband. They danced so well together that others would often clear the floor to watch, and applaud. But Bea’s favorite role was that of being a mom. Her children recall a wonderful childhood, always feeling safe and well cared for.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters Maureen Kody of Reno, Nevada and Nancy Wood of Peabody, her grandsons Jeff Kody of San Diego, CA, and Scott Kody of No. Andover and Venezuela, also a sister Peggy Wynne of Reading, 2 brothers and sister-in-law Joseph Griffin of Reading & Dr. Gerald Griffin, PhD and his wife Jane of Andover, Special friends Linda O’Hare & family of Georgetown, and Monique Pharand of Montreal, her former daughter-in-law Linda Kody and several nieces and nephews. DANVERS - James Henry Cunningham, 87, beloved husband of Janice May (Hersom) Cunningham, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, following a short illness at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Michael and Ellen (Walsh) Cunningham. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.

An honorably discharged veteran, James served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. Cunningham was employed for over 26 years as a technician with New England Telephone until the time of his retirement in 1983.

A resident of the town of Danvers for over 47 years, James was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan who enjoyed reading and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, James is survived by two loving daughters, Colleen Cunningham (Market Assignment) and Karen Mitchell and her husband Carl of Newbury; his three caring grandchildren, Heather Snow, Jared Mitchell of New York and Jason Mitchell of Boston; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Katherine Nolet, Eleanor Rapisardi, Mildred Cunningham and Joseph Cunningham.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Route 62), Danvers, Thursday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Decorated WWII veteran

SWAMPSCOTT-Mr. Theodore C. "Ted" Patrikas, of Swampscott, passed away July 20, 2007 after a brief illness. Ted was the beloved husband of Winifred C. "Winnie" Patrikas for 56 years.

Born and raised in Lynn, Ted resided in Swampscott for the past 53 years. Mr. Patrikas attended Lynn Public Schools and graduated from Lynn English High School. He later went on to Boston University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He furthered his education at Salem State College where he received a Master's Degree in Education.

Ted worked at General Electric for 47 years progressing through several management levels primarily at GE's medium steam turbine division in Lynn. In addition, Mr. Patrikas was a professor at Northeastern University where he taught Business Management courses in the Evening Division for 26 years.

Mr. Patrikas was a decorated World War II veteran serving in the USArmy. He received a Purple Heart and 5 Battle Stars while serving in Europe. He participated in D-Day and the Normandy invasion.

An active member in the Swampscott Little League Program, Ted served as both a coach and player agent.

In retirement, Mr. Patrikas stayed active in the G.E. Sparkplugs, played golf on a regular basis, attended his grandchildren's school activities and athletic events, and closely followed the Boston sports scene, especially his beloved Red Sox.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Patrikas is survived by his son C. Theodore J "Teddy" Patrikas and his wife Jayne M. (Murphy) Patrikas of Danvers, daughter Jane C. Rosadini and her husband William J. "Butchie" Rosadini of Guilford, CT, and son Dana A. Patrikas and his wife Zoeann (Wychgram) Patrikas of Danvers. He also leaves a loving brother George Patrikas and sister-in-law Gari Patrikas of Swampscott, along with several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Patrikas was the proud grandfather of seven wonderful grandchildren, Theodore "T.J." and Sean Patrikas of Danvers, Nathan, Sarah and Katherine Rosadini of Guilford, CT, and Maggie and John Patrikas of Danvers. Mr. Patrikas was predeceased by grandson William Rosadini of Guilford, CT and sister Eve Lezynski and her husband Walter of Derby, CT.

We just learned that Barbara Celentano, a member of the Directory Alumni Council, and her husband John both passed away in February 2007. May they rest in peace.

BEVERLY - Barbara (Arey) Celentano, 77, wife of John Celentano, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 7, 2007 at her home in Beverly.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Teresa (Burlamachi) Celentano. She was a graduate of Salem High School.

Mrs. Celentano worked at New England Telephone Company for over 20 years.

She was a communicant at St. John's Evangelist Church in Beverly.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crossword puzzles.

Surviving her in addition to her husband John of 54 years are three sons, John Celentano II of Georgia, Arthur Celentano of Walpole and Gerard Celentano of Bedford; a daughter, Dianne Thomes of Dracut; two brothers, Paul Arey of New Jersey and Robert Arey of Quincy; two sisters, Clara Stupakewicz and Doris McDougall both of Maine; grandmother of ten; and great-grandmother of two. She was predeceased by four brothers, Harry, John, Lewis, Neil Celentano; and two sisters, Lola Bohn and Corinne Skelton.

BEVERLY – Mr. John P. Celentano, age 78 years, husband of the late Barbara (Arey) Celentano who passed away February 7 of this year and with whom he shared fifty-four years of marriage. Mr. Celentano passed away Tuesday morning, February 20, 2007 at his residence. Born in Beverly, son of the late Valentino and Rose (Farraro) Celentano. He was a graduate of Beverly High School. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army.

Mr. Celentano had been employed as a custodian for over thirty years for the Beverly Public Schools.

A life long resident of Beverly, he was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Beverly and a member of the Vittori-Rocci Post. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting. Mr. Celentano loved spending time with his family and to him family was everything.

Surviving him are three sons, John Celentano II of GA, Arthur Celentano of Walpole and Gerard Celentano of Bedford; a daughter, Dianne Thomes of Dracut; a brother, Anthony Celentano of Beverly; a sister, Helen D’Iorio of Beverly; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Anna Celentano, Mary Capnis, Frank, Joseph and Francis Celentano.

Mrs. Jane E. (Morin) Davis, 54 years, of Lynn, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, July 1, 2007. She is the wife of Michael Davis. Mrs. Morin was born in Beverly, the daughter of the late Rodney and Ellen (Daley) Morin. She was raised in Beverly, attended Beverly schools and was a graduate of Beverly High School Class of 1970. She also attended North Shore Community College. She has lived in Lynn the past 25 years.
Mrs. Davis cultivated an online support network for individuals with disabilities and she was an advocate for people with disabilities. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Davis also had the ability to put thoughts and feelings into the spoken and written word. She was employed as a customer service representative for NYNEX Yellow Pages retiring in 1983.
In addition to her husband with whom she shared 27 years of marriage she leaves: a son: Brendan M. Davis of Lynn, 2 daughters: Kristin Page and her husband Corey of Lynn, Kasey Appleman and her husband Sam of Roslindale, 2 grandchildren: Briana and Hailey Page of Lynn and a brother Rodney Morin and his wife Karen of Beverly. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Margaret A. (Durkee) Fecteau, age 78, of Lynn, died Friday in Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital after a long illness. She is the wife of Richard G. Fecteau, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Swampscott, she is the daughter of the late Leslie and Evaline (Bowles) Durkee.
She was raised in Lynn and is a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1946. She has lived in Lynn for the greater part of her life. A seamstress and clothing designer, she worked for Priscilla of Boston and Vogue in Lynn. She enjoyed making clothing.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 daughters; Suzon Fecteau and Sidnice Fecteau, both of Beverly; 1 brother; Horace E. Durkee of Crono, ME as well as several nieces and nephews. She is the sister of the late Kenneth Durkee.

LYNN-Patricia “Pat” Louise (Maxson) Meaney, age 69, passed peacefully while surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer on June 20, 2007. Pat was born in Colville, Washington September 7, 1937 to parents Lynnton F. “Fay” and Lucy Melvina “Vina” (Morrow) Maxson, the fifth of six daughters.

After marrying Frederick “Fred” Meaney in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, they moved with their first child to Lynn where they have resided for over 50 years. She became the daughter in law of Frederick and Doris (Doane) Meaney of Lynn.

People were most important to Pat, and her greatest joys were her family, friends and patients. She was a caregiver by training and calling and worked for Lynn Hospital, Devlin Nursing Home, and for 21 years at the Lynn Convalescent Home, as well as private duty nursing. She cared for her patients’ bodies and their spirits. Laughter and love were the tools of her trade.

Pat was a member of the West Lynn American Women’s Auxiliary Little League, the Red Hat Society and finally her Wednesday afternoon Cancer Support Group. Gardens brought peace to her heart and she surrounded herself and family with beauty. Her life was punctuated by celebrations. She loved organizing events and hosting parties which bonded people more deeply together. Her five children, their spouses and grandchildren were the light of her life.

In addition to her husband of 54 years, she is survived by her children Cathy Meaney of Amherst, New Hampshire; John and his wife Marjorie Meaney of Lynn; Joseph and his wife Geraldine “Geri” Meaney of Lynn; Richard and his wife Deborah Meaney of Lynn; Phillip and his wife Cheryl Meaney of Lynn; grandchildren: Katie Gates of Vermont and Lauren Gates of Montana; Bryn Schuyler of New York; Elizabeth and her husband Merrick Teague of Georgetown; Gary Yanco of Lynn; Samantha Yanco of D.C.; Robert and Thomas Meaney of Lynn; and Emily Patricia Meaney of Lynn; great grandchild Jacob Teague, friend and caregiver Sue Csuka of Lynn and many other family and friends. Patty’s surviving sisters are Lucy F. Hutchinson and V. Eileen and her husband Larry Shulenbarger of Spokane, Washington and Margery I. and her husband El Leaming of Tumwater, Washington. Norman Lee Farnsworth – age 83, of Turtle Run Road, and formerly of Natick, Mass., died June 20, 2007 at Maine Veterans Home, Augusta after a brief illness. He was born in Natick, Mass. on June 13, 1924 the first son of Col. Ora Lee Farnsworth and Leona (Pasche) Farnsworth. He graduated from Medford, Mass. High School and later attended Suffolk University.
Norm was a decorated U.S. Army veteran, serving honorably as a Tech during World War II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge, the Allied Drive to Berlin and was with the first unit to link up with the Russians at the Brandenburg Gate. He then served in the Army of Occupation in Berlin.
Through most of his life, Norm pursued a career with New England Telephone Company. He initially sold Yellow Pages advertising and eventually became New England Marketing Director.
Norm was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and a former member of the Winthrop Rotary Club.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Kenneth, a son, Alan and his son-in-law, Robert Blood III.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Yvonne (McCarthy) Farnsworth of East Winthrop; his son, Jeffrey Lee Farnsworth of Winthrop, ME; his daughter, Ellen Blood of Marblehead, MA; a brother, Roy Farnsworth and his wife Carole of Billerica, MA; two grandchildren, Robert Blood and his wife Leigh of Kennebunkport, ME and Abigail Blood of Boston, MA.

Biography

William C. Mercer of Foxhill Village, Westwood and a long time resident of Wellesley passed away peacefully on June 6, 2007.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of fifty years Ramona Wells. He is survived by his two sisters: Margaret of Placerville, CA and Elizabeth of Carlsbad, CA. He is also survived by his four sons: Lee, of Arlington, VA, Raymond Ilg III of Wilmot, NH, John of Barre, VT and Robert of Old Mystic, CT. He leaves ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Bill was born on January 13, 1919 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a young man, Bill was an Eagle Scout and later in life received the Ralph Lowell Distinguished Citizen Award from the Boy Scouts of America. Bill was a 1940 graduate of Dartmouth College and Amos Tuck School. He was an MIT Sloan Fellow in 1956.

He served as Captain in the Army Air Force from 1941 – 1946 teaching navigation.

Bill was an active member of the Boston business community, retiring as Chairman and President of New England Telephone Company in 1982 ending a thirty five year career in the Bell Telephone System. He served on President Johnson’s Task Force for Equal Opportunities in Business for Women.

He was past chairman of the Mass Bay United Way. He was past president of Hamilton Trust, Commercial Club of Boston and the Telephone Pioneers of America. He served on the board of directors of: John Hancock, Bank of Boston, Brae Burn Country Club. He was a Life Trustee of the Museum of Science. Long after retirement he served as President of the Foxhill Retirement Community Association for six years.

His most rewarding community service was as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ramona Mercer’s alma mater, Colby Sawyer College. He served on the board for eighteen years and oversaw many successful expansions of the college.

Andrea (McLaughlin) Ritchie 56, of Quincy, MA, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, passed away May 9, 2007, at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Andrea graduated from Milton High School "Class of 68". After graduating from Boston State College, went to work for New England Bell. Capitalizing on the emerging women's lib movement, in combination with her intellect and people's skill, in short time, she earned a position in upper management. As one union leader mentioned, it was always a pleasure negotiating contracts when Andrea was representing the company (now Verizon). She took great pride in her work and the care and nurturing of her staff. Many of these employees became life-long friends. Andrea worked hard but also played hard. She was not just the life of the party, she was the party. Her personal life was no less successful than her professional career. She is survived by her husband, Donald Ritchie. Loving mother of Tara (David) Pingalore, grandmother of her two cherished grandsons, Matthew and Andrew. Surviving Andrea is her mother, Catherine (Farrell) McLaughlin; sister, Jane (Steve) Gibson; brothers, James (Gloria), John (Robbie) and Frederick; Aunt Helen McQueeney - all of Jacksonville, FL and Aunt Ann Mealey of Boca Raton, FL. Beloved niece of Dominic Farrell, Edward McLaughlin, Alberta McLaughlin and Joan Bradley - all of Massachusetts. Beloved aunt of John, Kevin and Annie McLaughlin and many loved cousins. Andrea was predeceased by her father, the late James F. McLaughlin. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Mary (Mathews) McGough 

Age 84, of Marblehead, passed away in Salem Hospital on Friday, April 27, 2007 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Wilfred McGough, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage. She will be deeply missed by her family and leaves her sister, Rose Mathews of Marblehead; her brother, Colin Mathews of France; four children, Michael J. McGough of Somerville, MA; Rosemary C. M. DeJoy and her husband Thomas, of Swampscott, MA; David W. McGough and his wife Rusty, of Hamilton, MA; and John P. McGough and his wife Lizzy, of Eastham, MA; Six grandchildren, Brenna, Joseph, Colin, Nathaniel, Rachel, and Samuel; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marilyn C. Mulcahy Nee McCusker died Tuesday May 1st unexpectedly. Marilyn, formerly of Topsfield, MA and Cape Elizabeth, ME had just returned to Maine from Naples, Florida. Marilyn was born in Waltham June 1925. The third child of Attorney Edward B. McCusker ESQ and Anne Deehan, Marilyn was an honors graduate of Waltham High School; she then attended and graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. Thereafter, she became the secretary for Waltham’s City Engineer.

Surviving are Robert, husband of 56 years, sons Mark and his three daughters of Bradford, MA, Paul and his wife Linda and their two boys of Dover, NH, Maura Anne Seymour and husband Michael of Bridgton, Maine, Sean Luke. of Portland, ME and Liam Bernard of Kennebunk, ME.

Marilyn was a devoted loving wife and a supportive caring mother. She was always quick to smile and first to laugh. Her hobbies included walking on the beach, sunbathing in her two piece, dining out and watching her “story” The Young and The Restless. “Mal” as she was fondly known was a voracious reader and tremendous athlete. She loved to watch her children play sports. She was competitive through and through. She was never known however, for her culinary prowess – she made reservations.

Mal was the definition of a classy lady. Anyone who met and befriended her was graced. She was loved by many and she loved many.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 3 to 5 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 7, 2007 at St. Martha’s Church in Kennebunk.

Lynn-Miss M. Eileen Burns, of Lynnfield, died Saturday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a lengthy illness.

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late James “Red” and Alice (Keon) Burns. She graduated from St. Mary’s Girls High School, Lynn, and Emmanuel College. She took graduate courses at Boston College and Salem State College.

She was a teacher in the Lynn Public Schools for 35 years. She was a reading specialist and retired as the supervisor of reading.

She was one of the founders of Ave Maria University in Naples, FL. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield, and of St. William Church, Naples where she served as lector and Eucharistic Minister.

She leaves one sister Terese MacPherson and her husband Bruce of Lynnfield; one Brother Peter E. Burns of Swampscott; five nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Barbara Burns who also taught in the Lynn Public Schools and was also the aunt of the late Andrew MacPherson.
 
Service Information: Funeral from Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street Lynn on Wednesday at 9AM. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church Lynnfield at 10AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7 PM. Barbara Haviland Nash, of Mashpee, MA and St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Salem and Arlington, MA, passed away after a long illness. Barbara was a graduate of Emmanuel College and received her Masters in Social Work from Boston College. She spent her career as a social worker at Catholic Charities, Lynn, MA. She is survived by her husband Gene Nash and her step children, Mary Nash of Jamaica Plain, MA, Thomas Nash & his wife Sharon of Winchester, MA, Terri Nash of Hawaii, Eileen Nash of Winchester, MA, Paul Nash & his wife Catherine of Kennebunk, ME and Michael Nash & his wife Colleen of Burlington, MA. Her godson Frank Nash passed away in 1995. She also has eight Nash grandchildren. She is also survived by three nephews, James Lott & his wife Nancy of St. Petersburg, FL, Richard Lott & his wife Cheryl of Palm City, FL, Thomas Lott of Stuart, FL and a niece, Barbara Herbach & her husband Michael of Stuart, FL. nullA Funeral Service for Elizabeth Jean “Betty” (Chapman) Wade, R.N., 82, will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 10 AM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main Street, on Route 20, Watertown.

Mrs. Wade was born in Peoria, Illinois and raised and educated in Laconia, New Hampshire. Betty graduated from Laconia High School and from the Nashua Hospital School of Nursing. Betty, a registered Nurse, worked for many years at the Waltham Hospital until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Waltham-Weston Hospital Nurses Association and the Baldwin Apple Square Dance Club of Woburn. A resident of Watertown for 40 years and of Georgetown since 1998, Betty died on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in the Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill after a sudden illness.

She leaves four children: Robert J. Wade, Jr. and his partner Michele Petrowicz, of Billerica, Patricia E. Collura and her husband Peter of Georgetown, Jean Marie Elliott and her husband Edward of Holbrook and Richard D. Wade and his wife Susan of Watertown; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Wife of the late Robert J. Wade (former YP Manager) who died in November of 1992, she was also predeceased by her parents, Phillip Chapman and Verna (Connelly) Sharr; two brothers Donald Chapman and Paul Chapman; and a sister, Shirley Berry.

Calling hours will be on Friday, April 13th from 4-8 PM and on Saturday, April 14th at 9 AM in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.

Ray R. Barile, age 55, of Maine, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2007, at the Maine Medical Center, Portland, Maine. He was the husband of Carolyn (Zarrella) Barile.
Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Raymond and Barbara (Paige) Barile. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School. He had lived in Maine for the past 30 years.

KING, Paul King, the town of Randolph’s 2005 Employee of the Year, died Wednesday at his home following a 2 year battle with cancer. He was 66. King worked in the town Clerk/Registrar’s office, and served as an Election Day official. A 42-year resident of the town, he also served on the Conservation Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and was a long-time Town Meeting Member. King also served as a Notary Public. He grew up in the Hough’s Neck neighborhood of Quincy, the oldest of nine brothers and sisters. He was a 1958 graduate of Sacred Heart High School is Weymouth. King was a veteran of the US Coast Guard, spending four years traveling around the world on the ice breaker USCG cutter Eastwing. He worked for the US Postal Service for 29 years before starting work at the Randolph town clerk’s office. The Randolph Lodge of Elks awarded King its 2005 Municipal Employee of the year. The Randolph Board of Selectmen named October 21, 2005 Paul King Day in the Town. He served as vice-chairman of the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands, and gave tours at Boston Light, as well as slide show presentations on the Harbor Islands to local libraries and civic groups. In 2006, the federal Department of the Interior designated King as a member of the Advisory Council for the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area, based on his extensive knowledge and tireless advocacy on behalf of the Island National Parks. King also volunteered with the Randolph School for the Deaf and the Neponset Valley Watershed Association. An avid photographer, King earned an art degree from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and taught dark room classes at the Boston School for the Deaf. He also served as the official photographer for the town of Randolph. King enjoyed working with stained glass and cooking, and hosted annual Thanksgiving dinners for friends and family. King loved the outdoors and spent many hours kayaking, camping and riding motorcycles.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Paula (Tobin) King; brothers John King of Weymouth, Steven King of Ohio, and Jay King of Quincy; sisters Susan O’Leary of Quincy, Barbara Farrell of Florida, Eileen King-Collins and Andrea King, both of Quincy, and Maryann King-Beebe, of Hingham; many nieces nephews, and 4 feline companions.

BEVERLY - Ann (Tkachuk) DiGregorio, 84, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 5, 2007 at Harborside Healthcare, Cedar Glen in Danvers.

Born in Lynn, daughter of the late Sidar and Sophia (Schulgar) Tkachuk, she was raised and educated in Lynn.

She had been a resident of Beverly for 48 years and had resided in Middleton for the past eight years.

Mrs. DiGregorio was a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.

Surviving her are four children, Louis F. DiGregorio Jr. and his wife Patricia of Middleton, Mary R. Germano and her husband Paul of Londonderry, N.H., Linda A. Lay and her husband Robert of Groveland and John DiGregorio; one sister, Sadie Bossio of Lynn; six grandchildren, Mindy DiGregorio, Jason and Kristin Lay, Samantha, Nicholas and Zachary Germano; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John and George Katz and Rose Doucette.

TOPSFIELD - Mary Slowey Anderson, 93, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007 at Masconomet Health Care Center, Topsfield. She was the wife of the late George Anderson and the daughter of the late Thomas F. Slowey and Catherine Card Slowey of Brockton.

Her son, George D. Anderson and his wife Yvonne of Topsfield survive her. Her grandchildren, George G. Anderson of Danvers, Suzanne M. Culp of Topsfield, Robert M. Anderson of W. Bridgewater and nine great-grandchildren also survive her. She also leaves three brothers, Charles of Saugus, Robert of W. Bridgewater, Richard E. of Monument Beach; one sister, Catherine Raynard of Brockton.

She was a retired executive secretary of the Boston Life Underwriters Association of Boston and W.F. Whitney Manufacturing of S. Ashburnham, Mass.

She was a former resident of Pocasset, Wellesley Hills and Ashburnham.

She was a graduate of Bryant and Stratton in Boston.

She was a long-time communicant at St. John's Church of Pocasset.

She was past president of the Apatuxet Garden Club of Borne, Mass., Rotary Ann's of Wellesley, Mass.

She was an accomplished bridge player and flower arranger.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held at the Lee, Moody & Russell Funeral Home, 9 Dane St., Beverly from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 at St. Rose of Lima Church, 12 Park St., Topsfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Ave., Somerville, MA 02143-1595.

BEVERLY - Norma L. (Schaffner) MacDonald, 83, wife of the late Malcolm J. MacDonald, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 in the Hunt Nursing & Retirement Home, Danvers.

Norma was born in Rumney, N.H., daughter of the late Hollis and Arlene (Bunker) Schaffner.

Norma was a long-time resident of Beverly and had worked for many years as a telephone operator for the NYNEX Co. in Salem. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

She is survived by a son, Kevin T. MacDonald of Salem; a daughter-in-law, Carole A. MacDonald of Salem; three grandchildren, Becky E. Moffett, Kevin T. MacDonald Jr., Jay P. MacDonald; and a great-granddaughter, Maggie Moffett. She was the mother of the late John W. MacDonald of Salem.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held today, Jan. 10, 2007 in the Lee, Moody & Russell Funeral Home, 9 Dane St., Beverly at 10 a.m. Visiting hours were yesterday in the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in the North Beverly Cemetery.
